Debra Tammer: Extraordinary Alien
Date: -
Time:
Venue: Museum of Comedy

What does it take to prove you’re an “Alien of Extraordinary Ability”?
For Leeds-born comedian, actor and writer Debra Tammer, the answer involved Oxford University, a Jewish upbringing, psoriasis, a failed clown career, a Slovenian cleaning lady alter ego, three strong-willed daughters, and a letter from Gareth Malone OBE praising her rendition of My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard.
After moving to New York, Debra found herself navigating culture clashes, motherhood, antisemitism, identity, and the bizarre U.S. immigration process that ultimately declared her an “Extraordinary Alien.” For once, being a weirdo was officially recognised.
Warm, self-deprecating and packed with characters, callbacks and sharply observed stories, Extraordinary Alien is a hilarious journey through family, belonging and learning to embrace what makes you different.
Because sometimes the thing you’ve spent your whole life trying to hide is the very thing that makes you extraordinary.
