Keep Your Sunny Side Up: The Gracie Fields Story
Date: -
Time: -
Venue: Museum of Comedy

Keep Your Sunny Side Up! tells the 'rags to riches' story of Dame Gracie Fields who in the mid-1930's was Britain's most successful female variety artist and the highest-earning female performer in the world. The show follows Gracie's life from the age of 10 through to her death aged 81 and recounts her tough northern upbringing, her three marriages, her life-threatening illness and the unjust way she was treated by the British press during World War Two.
Featuring 15 songs from Gracie's career including ‘Sally’, ‘Sing As We Go’, ‘The Isle of Capri’ and ‘Wish Me Luck (As You Wave Me Goodbye’) Keep Your Sunny Side Up! paints an intimate portrait of a big-hearted, no nonsense woman who made a lasting impact both on British culture and on the people she encountered in her extraordinary life.
After debuting to critical acclaim in Brighton in September 2025 Keep Your Sunny Side Up! has received four nominations in the 25/26 National Fringe Theatre Awards for Lead Performance, Production, New Musical (Book) and Musical Director.
