2020. Mel Hudson (Knowing Me Knowing You With Alan Partridge, The Catherine Tate Show, Hudson and Pepperdine) enters the long tunnel of lockdown as she looks likely to go to her grave - a single, celibate and dangerously contented cat lady.
She’s split from the father of her grown-up children, and somehow raw dogged menopause without the endless tweaking of hormones her still-coupled friends endure to keep themselves raunchy and remotely sane.
But then - three things happen: lockdown ends, the cat dies, and Mel attends a momentously revitalising musical event just metres from her ‘Forever Home for One’ - at Crystal Palace Park Bowl. A site, unbeknownst to her, of magical healing powers.
Suddenly, men are not so paused.
Richard Ashcroft Revived My Libido tells the inspirational story of the sexual reawakening that follows. This rambunctious show is at once a rousing rallying call to the sensuality and zest for life of the older woman, and a heartfelt Urban Hymn to the writer of “Lucky Man”. Part memoir, part blatant attempt to get Richard’s attention in some way, RARML is a must-see for all late-middle-aged women, and anyone with any interest in them.
CW: contains descriptions of Post Menopausal Motorway Refusal.
